Looking back on the first day of NeoCon East 2017, my biggest takeaway is a feeling of overwhelming gratitude to the building, design and construction professionals who stopped by the ASSA ABLOY Mobile Showroom. In an earlier post from the show floor today, I called these people “the inspirers.” We’ve engaged in hundreds of conversations today, and I can honestly say, “I AM INSPIRED!”
When we talk about good design, our conversations typically involve the features and functions of some stunning or innovative new product. But the creativity process for those new products begins with conversation and collaboration. The reality is that it takes shows like NeoCon East 2017 to bring manufacturers together with our “inspirers” so we can listen, share, think aloud and laugh a bit. It’s in that collaborative environment that creativity and innovation are born!
To develop unique and relevant solutions, we – the manufacturer – must listen to the unique perspectives of our customers. We participate in industry events like NeoCon East to have the conversations that provide those valuable, customer perspectives.
Conversation and collaboration are the genesis of new product development.
This is what pushes us to be better and increasingly relevant in our trade.
And so as I look at all the smiling faces from our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/assaabloytgds) I feel sincerely grateful to everyone who joined us in our Mobile Showroom on day one, and absolutely cannot wait for day two!
